Wellbeing

It has now been scientifically proven our gut communicates with our brain though the vagus nerve. Microbiota in the gut can generate (through the enteric nervous system) up to 90 percent of our body’s serotonin. The gut/brain axis can transmit cognition, mood, hunger, fullness, stress etc.

The connection works both ways. Our mental wellbeing also has an impact on our gut. Stress, anxiety and depression can manifest physically as bloating, constipation or pain. Which is why conditions, like Irritable Bowel Syndrome, can be triggered by acute or chronic mental/emotional worries and burdens.

Our Wellbeing depends on taking care of not just our physical health with good nutrition and exercise but also our emotional and mental  health..
Meditation

Meditation

Our mind can be our greatest enemy. Often it can seem to have its own agenda full of negative mind chatter and self-criticism. With all the clamour and stress of modern life a meditation practice can be life-saving. I have been a student and certified teacherof the Arica School, developed by Oscar Ichazo, for over 40 years. It is an extraordinary path of self- liberation, with training available to do at home or in a group.

I can guide you through simple breathing and meditation techniques to help calm your mind and free you from negative thought chatter.

Check online or contact me for more information. I am available for one-on-one meditation sessions at Cheltenham Holistic Health Centre.

T’ai Chi Chuan

I have studied and trained in Cheng Man-Ching’s T’ai Chi/Sword Form for over 40 years with The London School of T’ai Chi Chuan and the Long River T’ai Chi Circle.

It is an extraordinary martial art that helps to keep mind and body flexible and strong. Please contact the Long River T’ai Chi Circle or myself for more info and next available classes/one-to-one.
